Baby is so very delicate and still small enough to fit on dad’s arm or great big hands. This is a favorite with most parents.We recommend you book your new born baby session prior to giving birth, that way we have reserved an appointment for you and if you go overdue or you are unwell etcetera, we can transfer your session to a new date.
Types of images we create during a newborn baby photography session: -
Imagine beautiful photographs of tiny fingers gripping mums hand, little feet in daddy’s huge hands, delicate lips and button noses, wisps of hair and sleepy eyes. Up to 2.5 weeks a new born baby is still tiny enough for those great dad and bub images like laying on dad’s arm, skin on skin with dad. These images show just how small and delicate the newborn baby is in great big daddy’s arms. For mum its soft, gentle and loving. Our mother and newborn baby photos capture that very special bond between mum and her precious little bundle. We are sensitive to mum’s body image and concentrate mainly on close, loving head and shoulders of mum with her new baby. Many of the photographs we take during the newborn session can only be done within the first few weeks while baby is still very little.
A newborn baby needs extra special care; our camera room is heated or cooled as required to suit baby’s needs. In the cooler months we also use special heat packs to lay baby on for their comfort. We allow a full hour for your session so that we can take a break for a feed or just some mum time if baby needs it.
Baby’s – 3 weeks to just walking or 1st birthday: Our baby photography is photographed in our professionally equipped studio. Our studio is fully air-conditioned for hot or cold weather to make your baby totally comfortable during the photography session. Your baby’s comfort is our highest priority. Allow about one hour for the photo shoot in studio, it may not take that amount of time however, your baby may like to take a rest and have a drink or a cuddle with mum or dad. This happens a lot especially during a newborn baby session. It is a good idea to bring a dummy along if your baby has one, as well as a favorite toy.
Most parents love to have their baby stripped down to a nappy with a cute little pair of pants over the nappy. We have a range of very cute pants in different colours and sizes for this purpose. You may also like to bring along a favorite outfit to dress baby in or perhaps a special toy or rug. One daddy brought in a tiny Bulldogs jacket, beanie, booties and rug to have his baby boy photographed with. Another dad was a fireman so he brought along his fire helmet and big boots. You can get as creative as you wish with the props you brought along, just as long as baby is happy to go along with it all.

| Twins & other multiple births Photography Photographing twins and other multiple births can be both challenging and rewarding. Twin, triplets etc are treated no differently than a single baby however the degree of difficulty goes up immensely. At About Faces we create beautiful twin and multiple birth portraits. From Newborn onward we are happy to photograph your babies.Baby FirstsSome special times to have babies professional portraits made are: -
**3 to 6 weeks** little baby Baby is still very new and gained a little more weight.
**6 to 8 weeks bright baby “just smiling” photo session. It is best to make an advanced booking for an appointment for 6 to 8 weeks from baby’s due date or as soon as baby is born.
**Usually from 10 weeks** baby holding head up when on tummy. **6 months old** Half a year already, a special time in a baby’s life.
**6 to 8 months** baby sitting. **9 months old** another magic moment. Baby may be crawling and into exploring or playing on the floor with mum and dad, lots of fun! ** 1 year old** baby’s first birthday It’s just too important to miss. Most families book this date at least 4 months in advance to make sure they hold their session. For a photography shoot that’s a bit different the first birthday cake smash photo shoot is a lot of fun!
